We always encourage our clients to do their research and ask as many questions as they need before deciding on any treatment. Here are some of the most common questions we’re asked at Skin and Face Clinics.

FAQs

  • Science tells us that the early signs of ageing can begin to appear from the mid thirties, although this varies widely from person to person. At Skin and Face Clinics we do not set strict age limits because everyone’s skin ages differently. Instead we encourage a personal consultation where we can explore your concerns, assess your skin and discuss whether treatment is appropriate for you.

  • We take your comfort seriously and use a range of methods to minimise discomfort, including local anaesthetic when needed. Your experience also depends greatly on the skill and technique of your injector. Pain can feel more intense if you are stressed, rushed, or unsure about the person treating you, which is why we take time to explain each step and create a calm, reassuring environment.

  • At Skin and Face Clinics we only use products that give natural looking, non permanent results. Once you have achieved the outcome you want, you will need repeat treatments to maintain it. How often this is needed varies from person to person and with the particular treatment, we will always discuss this with you during your consultation. You will never be pressured to book follow up appointments and we encourage you to return only when you feel ready for your next treatment.

  • As with any medical treatment, side effects or complications can occur. What matters is that you fully understand these possibilities and feel comfortable asking questions. During your consultation we will discuss everything in detail, including risks that relate specifically to you such as your medical history and any medications you take. This helps us ensure that our advice is appropriate and that your treatment is delivered as safely as possible.

  • Some side effects, like bruising, cannot be completely avoided, but they can be reduced with skilled injection techniques and the expertise of your practitioner. Certain medications can increase these risks, so we will always discuss your medical history beforehand. It is also important that you follow your after care advice, as this helps support a smooth and uncomplicated recovery.

  • It depends on the results you are hoping to achieve. Polynucleotides are a great option if you prefer to avoid other injectable treatments because they focus on improving skin quality, texture and overall appearance without changing the shape of the area treated. They can also work well alongside other treatments and often enhance results by improving the skin. They do not replace dermal fillers when it comes to restoring volume since they do not add fullness, so some clients benefit from a combination approach depending on their goals.

  • Polynucleotides and exosomes both work to improve skin quality, but they do so in different ways. Polynucleotides are fish-derived molecules that can be injected to hydrate the skin and support repair. Exosomes are tiny messenger structures that encourage cells to regenerate and restore healthy function. In the UK they cannot be injected, so they are used alongside microneedling or as part of a home skincare routine.

  • Skin Booster is a broad term that is often used to describe Polynucleotide treatments, but it has also historically referred to certain dermal fillers designed to hydrate the skin. It is important to clarify exactly which product you are having and what it is intended to do, so you understand the benefits of your treatment.
